Air Pump requirements

Question
Hi I have a 3ft long 1ft wide 16" deep fish tank with currently 2 goldfish in (plans for more). I have a Fluval 3 filter which also blows in air - do i need a additional air pump ?

I am hesitating because of the noise they make -if you think i should have one - what make would you recommend for the lowest noise?

Thanks

Answer
Hello,

Yes, you should get an air pump. Modern air pumps should make little to no noise. I once had an air pump that made a terrible racket and only because it was broken. They are quite silent, and resting them on a towel or soft surface will help prevent vibration noise.

Its hard to say which one I'd recommend, as they are pretty much all equal now. You should get one that has two outake holes so that you can hook up two airstones. The more oxygen the better.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck,
From Stephanie
