QuestionI have a red eye tetra in my Quarantine 10 gallon tank, and I've noticed that he seems to have some large looking brown blisters: one on each side of his body near his gills. His scales don't grow properly over this brown blister. Is it possibly a fungus? I am concerned it may pop, but it does not look like it has popped yet.
Below is a link to a picture I made of the red eyed tetra showing what the blister looks like.
I have Quarantined the fish today, but I am worried that my other fish may be in danger. Can you help me to diagnose my fish? That would be great!
Happy New Year!
~Sincerely,
Anna
AnswerAnna,
can;t see the pic so I am not sure of what you are describing.
However, make sure it is not an internal thing, if it is you should be able to see if there are parasites under/near/or inside the blister.
You can treat with heat, salt-dip and a med like Clout.
If it is a parasitic problem then metronidozole will work, if not a broad spectrum med like mentioned.
If you need further assistance, just ask.
If you want to send a pic send it to my reg. email address.
