My Dwarf blue gourami

Question
Hi,
I had started a tank a couple months ago and everything seem to be fine until my one gourami started really badly picking on the other, i put the victim gourami in it's own 4 gallon fish tank, even though its a bit more adventurous and energetic now, it's still a bit of a coward. I would like to add one fish to his tank but not sure what would be most peaceful with him, i don't want to make his happy home go bad.

thanks so much ! :)

Answer
Hi Brittany

While the Dwarf Gouramis are a bit more peaceful than the standard Gourami, they should be kept as a pair, or 2 females. When 2 males are together, the stronger one will always bully the weaker one.

Unfortunately, the 4 gallon is too small to put anyone in with him. If you could get him a larger tank, then you would be able to put a few peaceful fish in with him.

I have an 18 gallon with a Blue Dwarf Gourami, a red Betta, 2 Black Mollies and a Cory Cat. It's a very colorful and peaceful community.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Richard
