Fish shimmies and dying

Question
All my fish have suddenly started with the shimmies one by one.  After a couple of days they die. Please help!

Answer
hey joyce
Shimmies are usually the result of a lack of electrolytes which can be added back through the use of aquarium salt. What I would do is to place the fish into quarantine tank with the water temp at 80F and add 2 tablespoons of salt per gallon to the water.
if all of your fish actually have it and you don't have any other fish, you dont need a quarantine tank, just use the one they are in. It depends on other fish you have and whether they are sensitive to salt.
I also believe they have medicine for the shimmies, but it might only be for mollies and platies. not sure on that, you should try checking your pet store.

i hope everything gets fixed and you don't lose too many fish. good luck with you tank!
best wishes, chelsey
