Question
I have an freshwater aquarium that I set up about two weeks ago.  Now there is a white almost cotton like stuff growing on my drift wood.  I was wondering what it is and how I can get rid of it.  If you have any ideas let me know.  Thank you

Answer
Dear Katie,
Thanks for your question. You can take it out and scrub it off with a clean sponge. It might have been something in the wood. Drift wood acts funny in tanks. Sometimes it won't sink for days, then it turns the water brown, or whatever. After a while it will be okay.
Also, watch out for over feeding. Here is my page for general aquarium care. If you have any other questions along the way, feel free to write back.
