Questionin a 30 gal tank with angel fish and tetra barbs and a plocostommus i have suddenly developed a pink feathery substance on the bottom and clinging to plants. i suction it out and a few weeks later it is back again. any ideas what it is or what i can do. i have tried every fungus and bacterial on the market. i have been raising fish for 20 years and never seen this. any help is appreciated
AnswerSounds like a strain of hydra. Caused by overfeeding of course, very common. There are many different strains of hydra. Just up the frequency of your wter changes.
Your tank is pretty overstocked too, likely the main cause of these hydra. They are harmless though, just a little unsightly.
