Gold Fish Turned White

Hi Karen,
I have three fantail gold fish in 10 gallon tank. I went on a vacation and gave my fish to my friend. After I returned back, I found out that one of the fish turned totally white. Is that common? I am using color enhancing flakes food, will the gold fish regain its orange color back? I appreciate your prompt reply.

Hi Suvarsha,
Sounds like your goldfish just went through a natural color change. It's very common for goldfish to change color as they get older and grow. I've seen goldfish do some pretty drastic color changes. Goldfish change color mainly depending upon their genetics and young goldfish always start out a olive/brown color and then get their natural coloration of dark orange with age.
