fuzzy guck on dying fish

My fish have a strange fuzzy stuff growing on them and the next day they are dead I started with 8 fish and now I'm down to 2 I think I have water mold but I'm not sure how to fix it. any help is greatly needed

Hi David:  Sorry to hear about your fish loss.  It sounds to me like you have a fungus problem in your tank.  What kind of fish are you keeping? and How big is your tank? What is the water temperature?

Fungus is usually the result of poor water quality.  Please take a sample of your water to the local aquarium and ask them to test it for you.  In the meantime what I would do is this:  I would do about a 30 percent water change while gravel vacuuming the tank.  I would raise the temperature to about 80 F (depending on what kind of fish you have) and I would do it slowly...about one degree per hour. I would add aquarium salt per its instruction label and the last thing I would do is add an anti-fungal med to the water.  But please make sure you test your water first.  It is more important to get the chemistry of your water in order before adding any medication.  Please let me know how this works for you as there are some other tips I may be able to give you along the way... dave
