Question
I have a very troublesome question.  I have a 55 gallon tank that seems to still be setting itself up, but that isn't my point.  It must be healthy because I have healthy baby black mollies, healthy baby orange wag platies and 1 healthy dalmatian molly.  My problem is with my one adult female molly.  I had separated her from the rest because she is pregnant, so I put her into one of those breeder nets so that when she dropped, the fish wouldn't all eat the babies, but one day I went to the tank to just admire it (As I do often) and I saw that she was mission her side from her tail to a little further up.  I have no idea how she managed this, and this happened a few days ago, but I was wondering if there is any possible way I can know if she will die or not. She is still swimming, though she wags a lot and I think it might be because of the injury.  How she managed to hurt herself is beyond me, but will she still drop or will she abort her brood?  And if there is something I can do to help her heal, since she seems like a pretty determined fish.

Answer
Hi Daphne:  Providing that she does not get an infection she will probably be just fine.  There is a good medication that you can treat her with... it is called Malafix.  She will probably still have babies so try to get the medication in the tank water fist... please keep me posted... dave
