Question
My 55 gallon tank is growing a white slimy film on one side and one of my oscar fish looks like he has white little cotton balls growing on his fin  I just treated the tank with fungus clear. How long must I keep the carbon filters out? Should I do anything else?

Answer
Hi Neenah,
This is a sign of fungus in your tank which is spreading to your fish. Clean all the glass do a water change and syphon the substrate. Treat with aquarium salt. Keep the carbon filters out until you have finished treatment. You must only put carbon in to remove the medication you are using. After a week or two dispose of it.
Good luck
Chloe.
