Question
i have a 55 gallon freshwater tank which previously housed a couple of large oscars and an algea eater. the oscars got too big for the tank recently so we traded them in for store credit at our local aqautic supply store with plans on resetting up our tank for some sort of tropical fish. regardless our water quality is good as we had it tested recenly but we have 2 problems... tiny bugs at the surface of out water that jump like fleas. they are very small and not noticeble to anyone that sees the tank but i think theyre sand fleas because my husband put rocks from the beach in the tank. he rinsed and soaked them good , but thats where i think they came from. also in the last 2 days ive noticed some tiny white worm like things on the walls of the tank. its crazy!! all thats in the tank now is an algea earter so if i just dont put any food in there for awhile, will that get rid of them all? ive cleaned the gravel twice in the last three weeks and i bought new filters yesterday but havent put them in yet. so i just really want to know how to get rid of the jumping bugs and the wormy things. can you help me out? theyre too small to take a pict of or ide send you one. thanx much!! andrea

Answer
Hello!

Bugs are from the river rocks, you are supposed to pour boiling water over them.

The white things are called Hydras. Little organisms caused by overfeeding. Stop feeding for a little and when you do feed make sure everything is eaten and they should go away.
