Black Skirt tetra

Question
Hi i have a Black skirt tetra....I have noticed that it has gotten very fat, and it's scales are while and kind falling off.
Do you know whats wrong with my Tetra?

Hello Nadine:  It probably has a disease called Dropsy... is it eating??? is it pooping????  If it has dropsy... that is a fatal disease and there is nothing that can be done to save it... Dropsy is basically a condition that causes the kidneys to shut down and the fish retains fluid until it dies.  If it has dropsy then I would have the fish put to sleep.... I know this can be difficult but it will only suffer until it dies.... dave
