Canister filter on mutiple freshwater tanks

Question
Can one fluval fx5 canister filter with 925 gph, up to 400 gallons handle mutiple freshwater fish, 3 40 gallon tanks? I was going to try spliters and get the extra hoses (home depot) and place on all three tanks with one filter. Would you recommend doing that? or should i go with three different filters. Save alot of money with one big filter.

Thanks
David

Answer
Hi David:  Theoretically speaking that should work.  You would have to ensure that the filter pulled equally from all tanks because usually there is one line that has a stronger pull so that in the end you are cycling one tank more then another.  If you can balance that out then you will be quite successful and should patent and market your invention.  dave
