Question
QUESTION: hi i kind of need help with a green algae becuase i dont know anything about it like how long or fast it grows is it harmful??thanks

ANSWER: Hi Akhil

Algae is a problem in freshwater tanks. To keep it under control, do your weekly tank maintenance. 20-25% water change, vacuum the gravel and clean the decorations with an aquarium scrubber and water.(no soap or other chemicals) You can also add algae tablets to your tank. I'm not sure what type of fish you have or how large your tank is, but a couple of Algae Eaters would help as well. I would also recommend running the tank lights for 10-12 hours a day.
Hope this helps,

Richard

QUESTION: hi again sorry my tank is 15 gallons and inside my tank i have got:
4 black widow tetras
4 balloon mollies
1 bristlenose plec
1 neon dwarf rainbow fish
and by the way i have not got a lot of green hair algae in my tank just a little i need to know like is it harmful to the fish???and how fast it grows??? thanks

Answer
Hi Akhil

Well you have too many fish to add any more to the 15 gallon.

Algae grows at different rates depending on light, water conditions etc. It is unsightly and unhealthy for your tank. It won't necessarily harm your fish, but I would keep it under control with regular tank maintenance and cleaning. As I said, you can also add algae tablets to the water but follow the directions on the package.

Hope this helps,

Richard
