Aquarium - hard water

Question
What causes hard water in an aquarium and how do I fix it (freshwater aquarium - 10gal)

Answer
Hello,

Hard water is caused by calcium in your local water. Fish tend to adapt to the local water supply so you don't have to change it, but if you believe it is affecting your fish, you can. The best way is to use aquarium safe peat moss, you can even add it directly to your filter by putting it in a new pair of nylons to create a thin mesh bag and just tucking it in somewhere.

Hope this helps!
