Question
Hi I'd like to know if it is ok to keep a Siamese fighter and a few angel fish in the same tank and if so what sort of size tank would be needed to keep them in comfortably. Also can i keep a male and female Siamese fighter in the same tank or would they fight. I have experience in keeping fish but have never owned ever of these fish and would be glad of advice from someone who knows what they are doing.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Martin
I've never kept that fish combination before, but I'd say it doesn't sound like a good idea.  Both the betta(Siamese fighters) and angels can be aggressive, and I think there'll be problems with fin nipping since both have long flowing fins.  Angels get especially territorial during breeding/spawning.

As for the male and female bettas, again not a good idea.  I have heard on rare occasions of it working, but that's not the norm.  I had a friend who bred bettas for awhile, and the males are very aggressive to other males, to females, and he told me the male will care for the fry(babies) but at a certain point he'll actually kill off his male offspring to avoid competition.

So, I'd pick one or the other and go with that.  Hope that helps and good luck!!
