Question
Hi,
I Just bought 2 red tail sharks for my 30 gallon tank with 2 tiger barbs. All the fish get alone, sometimes they chase but they all get along. but for some reason the red tail sharks color isn't bright and beautiful like they were in the store. the PH is in there range and there isn't any ammonia. i don't have a nitrite test kit i got to get one of those. but they do eat. what i did notice was that when the lights are off their color isn't bright at all. but when  i turn the lights on there color is back but still not as rich as it was in the pet store. any advice?

Answer
Hi Mike

I'm sure this is nothing at all to worry about. Fish often don't look at bright and as brilliant in home aquariums as they do in the fish stores. Different types of lighting is usually the cause. Fish also change themselves a little to blend in to their surroundings. Feed them properly, do your weekly tank maintenance, and I'm sure they'll regain their colors once they are used to their new home.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Richard
