WILL CERTAIN PLANTS KILL MY GREEN TERRORS?

Question
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED 4 GREEN TERRORS OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS THEY ARE DOING GREAT! MY QUESTION TO YOU IS I PUT LIVE PLANTS IN THE TANK SUCH AS SPIDER PLANTS, A VINE TYPE PLANT WITH LEAVES(I FORGET WHAT IT IS CALLED) AND BAMBOO PLANT. I ALSO PUT SOME BULBS THAT GO INTO A FRESHWATER TANK I THREW OUT THE PACKAGES BECAUSE I WAS SO EXCITED AND NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE CALLED EITHER. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE I'M NOT GOING TO HURT MY GREEN TERRORS IN ANY WAY. OUR TANK HAD "NEW TANK SYNDROME" AND KILLED A LG AFRICAN CICHILID WE HAVE BEEN TAKING CARE OF THE TANK SINCE THE INCIDENT, I THINK PARTLY BECAUSE MY HUSBAND PUT 15 FEEDER FISH IN THE TANK AND 3 HOURS LATER 12 WERE DEAD, WE GOT RID OF THE REST BUT I DON'T WANT THESE LIVE PLANTS TO HARM THE FISH OR THE WATER CAN YOU LET ME KNOW WHAT PLANTS ARE SAFE FOR FRESH WATER TANKS, MORE SPECIFICALLY FOR GREEN TERRORS. THANK YOU  ELISA AND JEFFREY LARKIN.

Answer
Hi Elisa & Jeffrey
The plants you mentioned, bamboo and spider plants are not aquatic plants, and should not be placed in an aquarium.  They won't directly kill the fish, but eventually they'll die off and if left to rot in the tank, will produce ammonia-which can kill the fish.  There's so many plants stores are selling as aquatic, and they aren't.  I know the bamboo is real popular now, and I've seen it lately being sold at the pet stores as such.  I would suggest removing those 2 plants, and researching what you're other plants are to see if they are fully aquatic or not.  Here's a link I have, with all kinds of plants and basic info on them
