Can i use maracide with a peacock eel

Question
Hi this past week i have noticed that two of my African cichlids have been rubbing against some of the decor in the tank and rubbing on the sand at the bottom. I have not seen any signs of ick or velvet but am not sure cause the two cichlids are an electric yellow lab and a bumblebee both are yellow and i hear that velvet appears as yellowish dust on the fish near the gills and fins. I went up to petsmart and bought some maracide but am not sure if i can use it in my tank cause i have a peacock eel. I hear that the active ingredient malachite green is not good for scaleless fish. my water levels are temp 78f nitrate - 0 nitrite - 0 ph - 7.0. Can i use half the recommended dosage or will that still harm the eel and also the eels and plecos are very sensitive to aquarium salt how can i cure these cichlids with out harming my other fish.

Answer
Be sure to dissolve the aquarium salt in a cup of dechlorinated water before adding it to your tank. Never just throw salt in the tank. Eels are also sensitive to changes in water chemistry, so whatever changes you make, go slowly with it. Avoid using any medication with copper or malachite green as an ingredient. Scaleless fish will not tolerate it and should be avoided.
I recommend treating your fish with very clean water and aquarium salt. I have treated many diseases with just these two things. Use at least 1 teaspoon of salt per 10 gallons and complete frequent water changes. Hope everything goes well.
