Hatchet snail overload

I bought a bucket of rocks on sale , at a pet store that they assured me cleaned , but I found Loads and loads of Hatchet snails in the bucket ! i have been pulling them out of the tank ! how many is safe to keep!

Hi Jennifer,
well, that's hard to say for certain. You don't want your entire gravel bed moving as if alive from the snails burrowing around. But a large population of snails can be safe in your tank as long as you keep up with water changes and make sure not to overfeed which would fuel the population even more.

Keeping a few loaches in the tank can help since they will eagerly eat snails.
