Question
hi, i think my snail may be eating my fish or causing them to die! but not sure i had 5 starter fish which survived well and had all for last 6 or 7 months however now in last day ive lost 3 of thenm and each time i realised the snail was eating them! i have checked my nitrites has have tester kit ans its only 0.1 (which has been higher than that due to problem with filter earlier and they survived) could this be possible. i think i have apple snail. thank you hope u can help!

Answer
The only way for the snail to eat the fish is if the fish are already dead or sick. There would be no way for the snail to be fast enough to get on a fish unless it was already dead or very near dead and laying on the gravel or a rock. What kind of fish were they? If they were guppies or other small starters than perhaps they were just too old? Guppies and mollies and platys dont usually live super long and they could have been old when you got them. That is one of the reasons they are so cheap is because they are common and live a short life, they are also easy to breed. I would just work on stabilizing your water and getting the fish you still have healthy and than slowly introduce new ones. But for now, get your water good. I hope I have helped. Let me know if you need more help.
