1.5 gal bettas and friends

Question
Hi,
I recently had a male Betta in a 1.5 gal but he died:(
To take his place,I am thinking about getting a female Betta.I don't want it by itself though...I read that female bettas CAN get along unlike males but I was wondering if a 1.5 gal is too small for 2 female bettas?upgrading to larger tanks is gonna be hard to do.
Oh and I also know that mystery snails sometimes get along with male bettas...is this the same with females?
Would it be okay to have 2 females and a snail in a 1.5?or could I have 1 female Betta and 1 snail?
Thanks for taking your time to answer this!:)

Answer
Hi Mallory,
I'm so sorry to hear that.. :-(

Female bettas do get along much, much better than males do. Large groups of them do sometimes have a pecking order established out. I don't feel it's a good idea to try to keep more than one female in a 1.5 gallon. Females need room to get away from each other at times. Sometimes you get that rebel female who is aggressive to everything. Snails are safe though, usually. I believe you could keep 1 female betta and 1 mystery snail in your tank. Just make sure the snail is getting enough food. Drop sinking wafers in there for it at night or sink a little piece of Romain lettuce or zucchini.

Keep up with at least twice weekly large water changes and you'll be fine.

I really hope this helps!
Good luck,
Susan~
