New to me 75 gallon tank

Question
I've been looking online for the best guide to resealing a tank of this size to no concrete answer.  The previous owner noticed a leak when tank was full past halfway, and suggested starting over. I've scraped off all silicone without taking the glass panels apart. I've got each panel down to clean glass with a razorblade.  Do I need to take the panels apart to begin again?  I've also let the leaking area dry out before doing any sealing. I've got caulking tubes of aquarium sealant rated for it, I also have 1/2 gal of epoxy at my disposal.  I really want to bang out a leakless tank on the first try. Thanks.

Answer
Hello,

I would honestly suggest getting a new tank. I know this sounds like a bother, but I have had a tank leak before and I followed all the correct methods of sealing it back up with silicone but it continued to leak. Also, leaking tanks mean there is a split somewhere in the silicone and at any moment the tank could fall apart. Although this is not likely it would be an awful thing to happen to your aquarium full of fish.

If you still wish to fix it against my recommendations then no- you do not need to take it apart any further. Ensure that all joints are covered completely with sealent and allow the tank to sit without any water in it for at least a week afterwards to let it dry and cure.

I hope this helps.
