Slime

Question
HI,
I recently bought an adorable betta fish and I keep him in a 2.7 gallon tank with a heater that keeps the temp. at 28 degrees Celcius and a small aquarium plant that does not obstruct the surface (so betta can breath).
it is a completely uncycled tank so I am doing 25% water changes every day for about a month. On the second day, I noticed a slimy substance on the tank. It's... like... clear slimy stuff...
My fish seems perfectly happy, he swims around and does all that fish stuff...

what is causing that slime? what should i do about it? is it harmful to my fish?

Thanks

Answer
Hello!

The slime could be two things.

1) If it is oily then it is caused by you having your hand in the tank too frequently. Harmless, but unsightly.

2) Does it look like bubbles? If so the betta is just building a bubble nest in hope that some female may come along and lay her eggs in it. Again, harmless.

You can just skim the surface with a cup to get rid of either of them.
