Answer
Hi John
Oh, I can sympathize, that really sucks, especially with a large tank!!  But at least you came home and found it, and hopefully not too much water leaked out!!  I've had 2 leak on me before.  I don't have experience fixing them though, I returned the one and the other I just discarded because I knew it was older anyway, didn't want to mess with it.  From what I have read though, it can be tricky, I'll post a link to direct you in the right direction there.

A lot of times, they'll start leaking at the seams, where the silicone is.  I suspected that was the problem with one of mine.  Try setting the tank up outside-if you can use something so you can see where it's leaking on the bottom, and fill it with a little bit of water.  Sometimes they'll leak on a corner, maybe half way, and the water just travels underneath/downward so it's hard to tell where exactly it's coming from.  It sounds like it'd be easier to do it slowly, filling up so much at a time, then waiting a bit and watching.  I know you'll need some silicone, make sure it says it's safe for aquariums.  Walmart sells it, pet stores as well.  Here's a good like on about.com, gives pretty detailed info on what to do if it does happen to be in the seams, need to copy/paste to your browser(it's says salt water, but it'll be the same info for freshwater):

There's also articles on there about replacing glass, think it's under major leaks.  Hopefully yours is just the seam though.  One thing too, the longer the silicone can sit and dry, the better off you are.  And I'd test it outside too before bringing inside to be on the safe side.

Good luck and hope that helps!
