Question
Here is the story i promised you...

Day 1 : Anand came to my house and introduced the female flower horn
into my 80 gallon(i am not sure whether it is 80 or 70) tank. It
had a net-like separator, locally called chinese separator.
There was the usual aggression between my male and the female.

.....I think this is going to be a big letter, so if you have any important
jobs please finish it first!

Day 2: There was more aggression between the two flower horns for the
next 3 days.

Day 5: The male and female flower horn start digging in their respective side of the tank, near the separator. The male and female are not swimming much. They just stand near each other.

-All this time, i never removed the separator as i felt that the flower horns may kill each other if let alone.-

Day 6: Almost all the gravel had been removed beneath the separator. The male and female look vivid and colorful.

Day 10: The female has layed the eggs and it looks like the male has fertilized them throught the separator.

after approx.29 hours the eggs hatch, but my male flower horn has become extremely aggressive. He had already torn of  a small part of the
separator.

I didnt want to take any risks, so i shifted the female and the fry to another medium sized tank.

Right now, the fry are in a 40 gallon tank with some 5 molly fry.I think there are about a 100 juvenile flower horns with me. They seem to grow at an abnormally fast rate. I sold about 50 juveniles to an aquarist at Rs.25 each ($0.5). About 10 i gave to my friends and cousins.A hundred i gave to Anand. I lost quite a few flower horn fry when the male was
thrashing near the net and i think he ate a few young ones.

Well, i have a pair of angels. I was told that they were platinum angels. however they seem to have smaller mouths when compared to my other angels. They do not eat as much too. How big will these angels grow? They look white and perhaps have a tinge of blue on their fins. They are not veil tail. I never feed my angels pellets after a bad experience.
(the pellets get stuck down the angels throat etc)Is it all-right to feed my angels pellets?

I thinky my angels are Scalare. I know the other wild variety is called altum. I dont seem to remember the third variety. Is it meekie or something?

My friend who had a problem with a deformed angel is now satisfied. He asked me to call upon him. When i saw his aquaria, i was shocked to seethe small angel chasing the larger ones. One was on the verge of dying. We immediately decided to return the angel to the pet shop. He wanted to know whether dicus could be kept with angels. I told him it was a risk and anything could happen.
There have been circumstancewhere angels get along extremelywell with disus, but you never know! Any way, can angels be kept with discus?

........Srinivas
(any news?)

Answer
Hi Srinivas!
Thank you for the spawning story about the Flowerhorns!
It was very interesting to read!

The platinum Angelfish is just a color variety to the 'Scalare' species... A subspecies if you will.
They aren't too much different than 'Normal' angelfish...
And they will mature to about 4 inches or more. I feed my Angelfish high quality flakes, krill, worms, and soft pellets--plus many other foods. Too large of pellets can be a danger to them as you have found it. You can always crush pellets and soak them in a cup of aquarium water before feeding. But be sure to offer variety.

Angelfish and Discus can be kept together with few problems. But you must keep each species in a large enough group so they will keep to themselves and won't pick on the other species. This behavior is is very rare if both species are kept in a group of at least 6 or more each. Other than insuring you quarantine all new fish before introducing to the delicate discus everytime you get a new arrival there is little problems. But you must quarantine--it is vital!

Otherwise, they should live peaceably together.
I really hope this helps! As always, feel free to talk "fish" whenever you wish.

(Nothing new much around here. Mainly just fiddling around with aquatic plants and my planted aquariums mostly....)

Best wishes and happy fishkeeping!
Karen~
