Question
Hello,
I'm very concerned about my betta.  He will
be 3 in November.  He is just not eating anymore.
He seems to not be able to hit his food anymore.
Just hitting around it.  I feel so bad for him.
Do you think he could be blind?  I change his
water weekly.  I feel like he is just starving.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Mary Lou,
Thank you for your question. If you feed more than 3 pellets per day, then you are over feeding. Don't worry about a fish starving. The real problem is over feeding.
Another thing you mention - that he is appraoching his third birthday - could be another clue. Their usual lifespan is two years. Congratulations on giving your betta a long, comfortable life. I suggest that you reduce feeding to 1 - 2 pellets per day (whether he eats them or not).
Just make him comfortable, that's all you can do. When the inevitable happens, I encourage you to get another betta. It will help.
