Question
I don't seem to have enough algae for my placo can I feed him (or her) some other green like cucumber?

Answer
Hi Eva,
Definitely! Plecos love cucumber, Zuchinni, Romaine Lettuce and even peas and green beans. Also, you can also supplement their diet with Algae wafers from your petstore which are designed specifically for plecos and other bottom dwellers.

Remember most plecos enjoy coming out at night and you might try offering him weighted down vegetables or drop in algae wafers when lights are out. Most likely in the morning the food will show evidence of being thoroughly grazed upon. ;-)

Its very important that when we add plecos to our tanks to provide algae control that we don't allow them to 'overgraze' the algae and then end up with no food at all. Simply offer him some food every night when you turn the lights out and he should be quite happy!

I hope this helps!!
