Shark Cat

Question
Hello again, We have a 25 Gallon tank with some very small puffers, less than 1 1/2 inch. We added a silver tip shark cat to help clean extra food on the bottom. When we put him in to the tank he went to the top corner by the heater and has not left this spot in over 2 weeks. He swims back and forth, and looks great. Is there a reason he won't go to the bottom? Our water has a ph of 8, and the temp is 74 to 75 degrees.

Thanks David

Answer
Hi David:  what kind of shark cat is he?  some are not bottom dwellers but mid and top level fish.  You could try a cory cat to help clean up the bottom... they rarely leave the bottom.. The shark cat may also be afraid of the puffers... they are deadly little cute things... Do you have coral sand? limestone? or do you use well water... your pH is on the upper limit of being to high... you should be aiming for pH of about 7.0 and a water temperature of 78-82 degrees.... hope this helps.. dave
