Starter fish

Are Platies good starter fish?
AND
How many could I fit in a 8 gallon tank?
AND
Would they survive long in the 8 gallon?
AND
Do they need aquarium salt?

Answer
Platies are like Mollies and guppies.  They are different fish, but are sensative like they are.  

You could house 8 in an 8 gallon tank.

They don't need salt.

I do not think they would survive long in your water.  I don't think your filter works well or your other fish would not have died.  I would try to fix the filter or change water more frequently.

How often do you change water?
