Bala Shark attacks

Question
Hi, i have a 10 gallon tank witha Bala Shark and a silver tip shark in it. This is
temporary until they grow bigger and require a larger tank. Lately i have been
watching my fish very closely, and it appears that my bala is biting and
attacking my silver tip. The silver tip gets up and moves around for a second
then goes back to where he was attacked, i dont know what to do. The silver
tip appears to have bite marks, but is fine (for now at least). Will the silver tip
be fine? Will they stop? Please help me.

Answer
Hi Max,

The reason that they are getting aggressive is because they do not have sufficient space. 10 gallons is not big enough for neither one of them. You cannot even 'temporarily' keep them in such as small tank, because they will get extremely aggressive, due to the lack of space. The lack of space means that the fish does not have enough room to make his/her own 'territory'. You need at least a 30 gallon tank, if you want to keep the silver tip, and at least a 50+ gallon tank if you want to keep the Bala Shark for its whole life. Bala sharks can get very big, about 18" or more. Chances are, if you do not upgrade to a bigger tank or return them, one will eventually kill the other. You MUST get a larger tank as soon as possible. Until then, you may want to get a plastic aquarium divider and separate the two.

Good Luck, and Happy Fishkeeping!
