Vertically-Swimming Black Moor

Question
I've had my Black Moor, Balrog, for six months and haven't had much trouble with him until recently. Despite having liquid soap dumped into his tank at a local high school and being transported to a ten gallon tank at my own home, this fish has survived. Now, however, he's been swimming vertically with his head pointed to the top of the tank and, sometimes, to the bottom. Occasionally, he ends up swimming on his back. Maybe 65% of the time, he manages to swim normally. I do a 50% water change every 7 days. His color is good and he eats well. What could be wrong with him? His swim bladder? I'm just not sure because he doesn't stay at the top of the tank--mainly he floats in the middle. Should I be treating him with an anti-bacterial medication? After the soap, he probably had 1.5-2 months with medication, but the redness of his gills subsided and the treatment stopped.
Thanks for the help!

Answer
Janice,
Yes it sounds like swim bladder. Don't feed him for 24 hours, and then try giving him a cooked, shelled pea chopped small. Make sure you remove the shell because it is very hard to digest. That should hep him out and he will be back to himself in no time.
