How do you know if a fish is pregnant and how long does it take for them to have the fry.

Platies are almost always pregnant if there is a male in the tank with the females. They typically have batches of fry evey 30 to 40 days. You will see them get fatter and the 'gravid spot' may become darker in the days before birth. This is the patch behind the anal fin.
