Question
I have a 30 gal. angelfish tank. Recently I bought a new angelfish to replace one that died. After the new angel was placed in the tank. I  noticed  tiny wiggly worm(2mm in length) like creatures in my tank. The angels are now laying eggs. I am concerned that these small tiny white worms are parasites.Do you have any idea what they may be? What can I do to rid my tank of these worm like creatures?

Answer
Hi Glenn,
Congrats on the eggs!!

The presence of worms (known as planaria) are generally a sign that the aquarium needs more frequent gravel vacuuming/water changing. They are harmless scavengers that feed on excess nutrients or fish food and when the nutrient levels rise their population can explode. While not harmful themselves, their presence can mean the aquarium just needs more regular cleanings.  And this is the best way to get rid of them, is with partial water changes everyday and siphon them up. This will greatly disturb your angels though while they are laying and/or guarding eggs. You can wait until they are completely finished and then start small water changes everyday, keeping away from the nest site as best you can.

I hope this helps!
Karen~
