Question
Well when you answer this can you kinda explain it to me if possible :/ I mean i dont understand the wierd words that ive read on here :S Since im a new time fish owner so i really dont understand much :S But i have had fish before which went great. Well on topic..

My fish are breathing really hard well only 2 the other 6 i think it is are all swiming around having fun being happly :P But one of my little fish is at the bottom right now and in the rocks just breathing hard and not moveing and i have no idea whats rong. I have another who likes floats around trys to move but moves in like circles slowish and then floats to bottom and breaths hard as well. Early he seemed to be a little bit like sickish i dont know how to put it but he was swimming around but didnt look sick just kinda like a little bit. He is looseing color from what i can see as welll. I have been having my other fish well 2 others sitting at the bottom just kinda not moving they would move around a little bit not much not eat much. They didnt breath hard that i noticed. Im just really confused on whats going on and i know i havent checked the water stuff yet but i dont have a kit yet :/ I think i might of over fed them for one thing but if this is so then should i take rocks out cause theres food down in em and clean them off then take some water out and put rocks back in and then water oh and clean plants aswell. Would that sound right? Well i hope you can help me i really dont want them to die i mean just before this i had some get eaten by another fish which i didnt know would eat the others since they didnt tell us at pet store and then some died so i get more then they die :/ really sucks and i want some to live not die and keep having to get more and more =[ Well hope you reply ASAP!!!

Thanks!
Jett

Answer
Jett: it sounds like you have a toxic tank... you are going to have to do a 30-40 percent water change and add aquarium salt when you refil the tank.  If you are able to add oxygen to the water then you should do so... you are also going to have to clean that tank and its gravel else your fish are going to die of toxic poisoning.  A gravel vacuum will help you clean the rocks and the gravel.  They are about $12 at the aquarium.  But I can not stress enough that you have to clean that tank.  Fish poop and left over food become poison to fish... so it has to go and only you can clean that out.... do you have a filter on your tank???? you can take a sample of your water to the pet store and they will test it for you... let me know... dave
