Hi Ryan;

A 'red black shark' is not compatible with your goldfish. The shark is a tropical fish that is very aggressive and needs higher temperatures than goldfish. Goldfish are coldwater fish and should be with other goldfish. Get another goldfish to live with your goldfish if your tank is big enough and be sure it has good filtration. Read through my previous answer again very thoroughly for more details so your fish has a better chance to be happy and healthy.

Hi Ryan;

To give your goldfish a friend, be sure your tank is large enough with enough filtration. Goldfish are very messy guys that need ten gallons per fish to thrive. They each grow to be over 6 inches long and need a power filter or canister filter rated for at least the size of their tank to keep their tank water in good shape. Keep up with weekly 25% water changes and gravel vacuuming too. It helps keep them healthy and encourages strong immune systems.

That said, goldfish are best kept with other goldfish, called a "species tank". Other cold water fish are usually too small and will be eaten or bullied by goldfish as they grow. If your current fish is the single-tailed typical goldfish such as comet or shibunkin, get another one like him of similar size. If he is the fantailed or fancy variety such as moor, oranda, lionhead, etc, you can get him another one of similar size to be a tank mate. It is best to keep the fancier varieties with their own type away from single-tailed types. Fantails are slower swimmers and have a difficult time competing for food and can be picked on by the faster single-tailed varieties.
