Silicone mishap

Question
Hey Jaymie,

I recently refurbished a floor model 1950 t.v. and built a fish tank to put into it (fresh water).   I followed every step to the T and thought that i did everything right. However after two dead batches of fish, one when i just made it and another after changing the water after a day, i then set out to find out  why.  I discovered that the silicone i used was mildew resistant.  An honest mistake seeing as how the label said nothing of this "perk". my question, is there any way i can fix this mistake without taking a razor to all exposed silicone then reapplying the correct.  If it must be then it can be done.  But is there any faster and less costly way?

Answer
Anthony,
The only way that I know of is taking a razor to it and then reapplying. Make sure that you are cycling the tank before you add any fish. Always use aquarium safe things when dealing with fish tanks. Wish I had better news for ya but I would not risk putting fish in it if they are just going to die. Would end up costing more in the long run.
