Answer
Hi Adrian
I saw your question in our question pool.

Before all this started, did you do anything different to the tank?  Like treat for a disease or parasite infection, forget to use a dechlorinator when adding new water, add any new fish-anything?

When your tank went cloudy, what color was it, like a greenish color or more white/greyish color?

How often were you changing the water before, and how much do you change at a time?

Do you have a test kit?  If so, what's the ammonia, nitrite, ad nitrate readigs in the tank?  If you don't have a test kit, I'd strongly recommend buying one.  You really need to monitor those levels occasionally, and especially when there's a problem in the tank, because 9 times out of 10 the problem is water quality related.

Here's a link with some photos of different algae types.  See which looks closest to what you have.  Keep in mind though, not all algaes are green, some may be black, or blusih colored, brown, etc.  Let me know which you think it looks like.  I have a feeling it's the second to last photo....

And, parrot fish get what's called "black spot disease".  It's not really a disease though, but it's common when they get stressed from poor water quality, or even breeding/spawning, for them to get some black spots on them.  So, I don't think the black on the parrots is the same as in the tank-which is good.  But, I have a feeling something's going on with your water quality though.

Get back to me when you can on those questions, and we'll take it from there.
