hello R Ray

180g
2oscars
1pleco

we took our 55g and we want to put it in our bedroom.   my husband is concerned it is going to smell. will it and do i have a case with him that it won't.  i want to get gouramis kissing and danios what else should i get?  thanks for your time

Answer -

While it is true if you lift the lid on your tank or when you do water changes etc. there is often a smell, a fishy smell no doubt.
BUT, if you keep your tank clean, change your filters etc. you should not be able to smell the tank by just entering the room.
As long as your husband keeps his head out of the tank, he probably won't notice a smell.
We have a 20 gallon in our room, a 10 in our sons room, as well as a 55 in our front room, and a 5 in our bathroom, I don't notice the smell, and I am very smell sensitive.
Good luck!!

P.S. Danios exspecially giant danios need lots of room to swim, so you won't want too much if you go with that kind of fish. However, they like to be in groups so you will need several.
So, maybe a few danios and  your kissing gouramis.

Answer
I bet they are, my husband really wants a bigger tank, but I think we should MASTER the 55 first.  It is a learning process and I am sure you would agree.
Kissing Gouramis like most gouramis are pretty good sized, they may get to 4 inches, 3 more likely, but they are fat remember.
They can be fin nippers, so you won't want to put anything that has big pretty fins like a male betta.
In the same note they are not really mean so you don't want to put an oscar with them because they would get beat up on.
So I would suggest mollies, neons, danios, or maybe a bola shark.
Good luck!
