Question
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!?!?!?!?!  my mother says that she doesn't think she can do anything about it but i think she can. anyways i have 6 angel fish, two fish with stripes on them (sorry i don't know what they are called), two red fish(all fresh water), and one VERY large bottom sucker fish (its huge). one of the angel fish is pregnant.Well we think so. I'm not exactly sure how long she has been pregnant but i think its been like three weeks. well as i have recently learned that when angel fish are born, they are eggs, and they need the male to give them nutrients or something. well i told my mom to put the pregnant fish in a separate tank but we need the male and we have no idea who the father is. i am just extremely concerned that either the sucker fish will eat the eggs or the other angel fish will eat the babies when they hatch.Sir i just don't know what to do. and i don't want them to die. Please help me.I cannot send a picture sorry. i really need your help. i need the answer ASAP.Please!!?

Answer
Hi Ashley!

Ok ok. First separate the pregnant AngelFish into another tank  (about 20-30 Gallons will do). Here is the way to tell the difference of a Male AngelFish and a Female one. Males and females of angelfish slightly differ in shape. The difference may be noticed as early as when the fish are about three months old. Males' bodies are a little oval or oblong if you watch them from the side. Females are more rounded. We may compare the shape of female angelfish's bodies to the diamonds suit of playing cards. If you take this diamond at the left and the right and stretch a little, you will get a shape that looks more like a male angelfish's body. This difference is not a striking one, but you may really notice it when you compare several angelfish. Then, mature males often have massive or bulky foreheads which look like humps or something like that. Female's foreheads remain rather flat, or just a little humpy. Angelfish do not develop such nuchal humps, but males do have a much more rounded cranial profile than females.
But to tell the sex of your angelfish sometimes is not enough. They prefer to make couples themselves, and we cannot predict their likes and dislikes. So, the best way to get a couple of angelfish that will be ready to breed is to grow five to ten young fish in a big tank until some of them begin to separate from the group. Angelfish can really fall in love. Let them chose themselves. Try this: Put all the AngelFish in one tank without any other types of fish, make sure there is at least one aquatic/plastic plant (so the fish will feel more secure) and allow them to mature together.
Feed the fish well, including live food or ground beef heart and wait. Don't feed more than the fish will eat in 2 minutes.
Maintain the water in the aquarium at 82 degrees F.
Provide an appropriate spawning site. Angelfish lay adhesive eggs, so they must have something on which to attach the eggs. Place an air stone with a gentle stream of bubbles about 7 inches from the spawning site.
Wait. The pair will begin picking and cleaning the spawning site, and soon afterwards, they will spawn.
Plan to move the babies into a larger tank after the fourth week.

Hope this helpS AND GOOD LUCK! xD :D Feel free to ask more questions!
