Big stomach

Question
Hello,
Lately I have notice that on my older fish (He looks like an Auratis<--spelling, but he's blue, we'll call him "The Blue") and his big stomach.  I recently added 4 new fish who are still young.  Today I noticed that The Blue has a really big stomach.  I though immedaitly that he ate one of the smaller fish.  But then I accounted for all of them.

I was wondering what you thought this was.  It is unusuall. He still eats but I don't know why his belly is so big.

Thanks for any advice/help you can give me.

Answer
Hi Charlie,
Unfortunately it sounds like your fish has bloat.  This is typically caused by some sort of infection in the stomach or intestine.  There are medicines and the most effective would be ones that he either eats or that you soak his food in (provided he will still eat). That way, the medicine gets right to the problem.  Medicines that you just dump in the water are typically not very effective.
