Answer
Hi Nikkie,
Have you checked your water for ammonia or nitrites?  If they are high, this could be a reason why your Betta is sick.  He could have Dropsy.  Experts do not really know what causes Dropsy,  there is much controversy on it.  Dropsy can be cause by constipation that went unnoticed, and led to Swim Bladder, then Dropsy.  Poor water conditions could also be a reason, as well as poor diet.  His kidneys could be also be infected.  It is an internal bacterial disease.  Dropsy is very hard to cure, but some have cured it, when found in time.  You must use a very good antibiotic such as penicillin, or tetracycline.  Some Pet Stores have medication especially for this.  Make sure your water chemistry is right before using medication.
I hope the little guy pulls through.
