Question
i am considering starting up a small aquarium and wanted to know if a small stingray (3-4" aprox) would eat any neon tetra that it shared its environment with?

Answer
Hi,
I'm glad you're into stingrays, but there are just a few things I would like to make sure you're aware of before you purchase one of these amazing animals.

The first thing is that no freshwater stingray grows to below 20" across the disc, so they cannot be kept in a small tank. They also require a minimum of 24"X40" as tiny pups, large as adults. No one really knows why, but if a ray is in too small of a tank it will refuse all food and die.

The second thing is that your rays would definitely eat neon tetras.

Are you experienced in this hobby? Stingrays are quite easy to keep, if you have experience. They can be a nightmare for beginners though.
If you are not, don't let this disappoint you. Instead, set rays as your goal in the future.
