QuestionI recently noticed my jewel cichlids have tiny babies which they are very protective of. Shall I move them out to another tank, and keep them with the parents? Sofar the parent fish have been picking them up in the mouth and putting them back in the pit, but Im afraid that if i leave them together for too long they could eat them!
AnswerHi Je,
There are no guarantees, but jewels are often excellent parents. If they were mine, I would leave the babies in with the parents and watch the wonderful parental care. You need to provide them special food once they start swimming. Feed them frozen baby brine shrimp.
