Beta overeate hatchlings?

Question
Hi, thanks in advance for any help. I have a Beta that lives in a fairly large tank (about 20 gallons) with two Angelfish. They all grew up together and are about 1.5 years old -- they get along fine and I haven't seen them fight yet. Well something interesting happened -- apparently the Angelfish were of different sexes, they mated and one of the fish laid eggs on one leaf in the aquarium. The angelfish have been very territorial, protecting the eggs but still no conflict. A day later, I noticed that the eggs had moved -- they've all hatched and the Angelfish hatchlings have moved to a different leaf on the same plant. The parents watch over them -- but, I suddenly noticed today that the Beta's belly is enormous and he's spitting back out the food I fed him today. My guess is that he's feasted on the hatchlings during the night -- what should I do? I checked the beta for damage but all its scales are fine.

Answer
Hi Mark;

Poor fella. Yep, those bettas love live food. (But poor angel babies, yikes!) You might want to isolate him so he can't get more and get worse. Here is a link to info about constipation in bettas and what to do for him;

Hope everything comes out okay....(sorry, I couldn't resist)
