Balla Sharks and Guppies

Question
I had a female guppy. She was pregnant and in the process of having her babies and she passed. I aslo have a balla shark and I wanted to know if they are capable of living together because the pet store guy said they could...but then again he thought guppies laid eggs till i told him otherwise. The shark had been terrorizing her since we got her. Was it because she was a female or pregnant or because she's a guppy? He bothers the male too though. I don't know. I'm sad and need help. Thank you!

Answer
Hello,
Although Bala Sharks are relatively easy fish to keep, they need a 500 litre tank, as they grow very big. Work out the dimensions of your tank and use this website http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/calculators.php?calc=volume
to work out the volume.
If it is under 500 litres, I recommend rehoming him in the next week to a local fish shop. They may even give you store credit for you, so you can get money off your next fish.
They are community fish, but may be aggressive in a tank that is too small.

Good luck,
Kathryn
