red spots on my cichlids

i own 10 cichlids and on 3 of them they have red shiny spots on the tummy is this normal

Hi Liz,
 Hmm... That depends entirely on which kind of cichlids you have.  If they are convict cichlids and the spots are more orangy, then that is an excellent sign that they are females.
Similarly, if they are kribensis and they are red, then that is also a sign of a female.  

 Do you know what kind of cichlid you have?  If not, can you possibly email me a photo of them?
