Question
Hi, i have a male betta. I have had it for almost a year and its been sick before. The first time me betta was sick i found out that he have Popeye. I got him medication for it and he seemed better. But some time after he started to become slow and lazy again. All he ever does is sit at the top of the tank. i sometimes have to shake the tank to make sure he is still alive. He ate a lot and seemed a little active in the Morning when i fed him but he slowly stopped eating and now he doesn't eat at all. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. =( I clean the tank once a week and feed him ever day. I tried to  make him active by putting a mirror near the tank but he doesn't do anything anymore. i don't know what to do to help him. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Answer
Hey Annamarie,

Sorry for the delayed response, my computer is on the fritz.

It sounds to me like the betta is in need of a food change. Feed him some thawed peas cut up into small bits and see if that changes his eating habits. Also, clean the bowl out today, and see if that helps. Avoid putting mirrors next to him, as it stresses him out and makes him sick. Check him over for any abnormal growths or changes in appearance. If there are, then the listlissness of your fish is due to the symptoms he's suffering. If there are any changes in appearance, bettafix will help clear it up and perk him back up. Also, try to warm the bowl to about 75*F.

Hope this helps, and best wishes.
