I also wanted to add that for some reason my tank stays so perfectly crystal clear with my filter sucking up fish feces and my pecastomus going to town on algae and my tank is very well airated. I don't know why my tank stays in such great condition. it is really low maintenance. I have done alot of research on how to maintain an aquarium so maybe i just don't realize that i am doing it myself by keeping up with it and providing the necessary things to keep it in great condition. everyone i know has had such a hard time keeping fish alive and their tanks clean. i have never had this problem. have you?

They are probably overfeeding their fish, tanks may be overcorwded and maybe they are not cleaning often enough. I keep mine understocked, only feed lightly once a day or every other day and it really helps keep maintenance easy. Most importantly, my fish are very healthy. I'm glad yours are doing well too!
