Gold Fantail: his tail is turning black, is this ok?

We just added a Gold Fantail to our tank with another Fantail and a cleaner fish.  When he was purchased he was all gold and we just noticed that his tail is rapidly turning black.  We know that some varieties have black on them, but didn't know if they are born that way or if the color developed as they age.  Thanks, Cavin

Cavin,                                                       This is not uncommon. Goldies change colors as they get older sometimes. Sometimes it may be caused by stress and brought on prematurely. I think you are ok. Don't worry unless the new one starts picking on him. Good Luck, Tina
